A Little Peacock

This afternoon we headed out to my Godmothers house, to partake in a little Italian tradition of making Crostoli. It was nice to finally get out of the house and have Chad tag along. It was also nice to have an excuse to get dressed this weekend. Haha! Being so lazy was finally getting to me and I was itching to get up and do something.

One of my favorite t-shirts, that has definitely taken a beating over the year, is from a small US company called Moteph. They have amazing printed Ts and Plum bought a whole slue of them last Spring. They sold like hot cakes! I absolutely adore this print, and if you google Moteph you can see some of there other prints under images. They don’t have a website set up yet.

I wore the ever popular Ribbed Waist Cardigan from Kersh. I have this cardigan in 6 different colours. Actually I think everyone at work has this sweater in at least 3 different colours. Fits like a dream and the colours we do them in each season are spectacular. The one I am wearing is in Charcoal Grey.

As for bottoms, nothing like my Black Mavi Serena Denim Leggings paired with simple black boots, to keep the focus of the colours up top.

As for jewellery, I wore a (fake) Tiffany’s necklace I got as part of a Christmas Gift Game. You know the one where you open a gift and then people can steal it from you? Well, as much as it is fake, it is still a pretty nice necklace, and I’ve always wanted something like it. All the heart charmed necklaces I have are so short that they look awkward when wearing deep v-neck shirts. The bracellets are made up of a gift from Chad (one with the heart), a gift from somewhere (the simple chain), and a Value Village find (the Silver bangle with Opal)!  I love mixing a bunch of different silver bracellets together.

The perfect outfit for a little Sunday Italian get-together!

Coloured Hearts

Chad spent most of the day sleeping, since he had just gotten home from his night shift. So I headed over to the parentals, to hang out for a bit, before coming back home to do a whole bunch of nothing. Since our Saturdays are all out of wack with Chads work schedule, it means Saturdays have really become days of nothing. This means, yours truely, ain’t getting dressed up, but rather, is hanging out in her PJs!

Comfort comes colourful this Saturday, with my favorite PJ pants. So old, so soft, so comfortable. I actually think they are from Walmart. I love the rainbow hearts!

My green t-shirt is from Plum, part of their endangered species Ts. I love the hand drawn owl and the vibrancy of the green. Something fun and funky to wear while laying on the couch.

My favorite grey sweat top from Hollister is the perfect Saturday throw on piece.

Nothing special going on tonight, except maybe some Clueless and Sex and the City.

Fashion at its finest!

The Green Belt

What a crazy day in the office. A mixture of lack of sleep, plus the stress of inventory, meant I was going loopy all day. However, dinner and drinks with the girls, plus a little shopping down town was the perfect fix for a less then perfect week.

I wanted to wear my yoga jeans, but I wasn’t really in the mood for boots, so I cuffed them up, slipped on a pair of checkered Vans, and whola! It brought me back a little bit to when I was in College, but I’ve always loved the look, so I figured I would just go with it.

I wore my white, cotton slub, v-neck, long sleeve shirt over a white tank top, tucked in right in the front so that my belt would show.

The belt Matt got me from Value Village. A pretty great find if you ask me! YSL at Value Village, who knew! I love the richness of the colour and the gold accents.

In loving the colour of this belt, I matched it to a multi strand teal beaded necklace I’ve had forever. Both pieces added a splash of colour to an otherwise monotone outfit. I seem to be drawn to monotone outfits!

To keep with the grey knits of the week, I wore a super cute little grey knit hat that I bought at Plum. I had always wanted one but had no idea how to wear it, or even if it looked good, but when we got them in at work, we all tried them on and fell in love. I love throwing it on with different outfits, because it can totally change the look. It is comfy and soft and perfect for Winter!

Day 28

Day 28-5

It is Grey Sweater Week.

I’ve just decided this right now. HA.

My outfit today is fairly simple in that it is three pieces, put together, with out a lot of fuss and embellishments. Sometimes the greatest outfits are those of simplicity. Simplicity because the pieces are so good on their own, that they don’t need anything added.

This great sweater is from Vera Moda. It has a pin tucked woven insert with 3 button detail which is quite flattering on the bust. The sleeve bell out at the bottom before being cinched in again at the cuff, and it has an adorable self belt around the waist that can be tied a number of ways. This is a classic ‘throw on piece’ when you need to look put together, but don’t have a lot of time. The details in the sweater are perfectly situated, that you don’t need to add anything else and can still look great. I love having this as part of my wardrobe.

I paired this with my navy blue denim leggings and my brown boots. I love how saturated both their colours are and how rich they come out in pictures. Saturated colours are my favorite, because of the deep intensity they represent. I am not a very pastel kind of girl, but you’ve probably already figured that out.

I am also really enjoying the combination between grey sweaters and these beautifully coloured boots.

With a sweater that has so much going on there isn’t much need for over powering accessories, so I went with a simple, delicate double strand heart necklace and some studded earrings. A feminine touch to a feminine outfit.

What grey sweater shall I wear tomorrow?

Wish List: Spring Shoes

Posted by Danielle Ciavarro under Wish List

While checking out a couple website last night, I stumbled upon Spring Shoes, one of my favorite shoe shops for cute styles and cheap prices.  Having fun and cute fashion doesn’t always mean spending an arm and a leg on name brand shoes! They just so happen to be have a huge end of season sale right now, which means yours truly will be making a stop there this weekend. I picked out a couple of styles that caught my eye. Some of them are to replace shoes I currently have, others are just to have for fun. I love the little black ankle boots.

While checking out the rest of the website I cam across these beauties.

Hello LOVE!

I absolutely adore these. They really call to the cowgirl biker in me. I think anything that is really rugged and manly I gravitate towards. Kind of like why I wear my Frye boots all the time. Anything that reminds me of boots my Dad use to wear I must own.

Ankle boots baby. I need me some ankle boots!

Lets Call a Spade, a Spade

It is a truth universally acknowledged that when committed to taking a photo of yourself every day, there will be more then a fare share of bad photos. Enter, today. I really need to learn to take pictures of myself at the beginning of the day, when I look fresh and pretty, and not at the end of the day, when all my make up has worn off and my hair looks greasy. Le Sigh.

It has been very busy at work with Inventory this week, so I’m a little behind on a lot of things!

This sweater I bought from work during a sample sale. During the year, our designer and merchandiser will take trips to the US and purchase pieces that they find interesting and different then what they find up here. Then they take these pieces and redesign them using our own fabrics and put them into production. It’s like buying something, becoming inspired by it, and then making it your own. Once they are done with the original purchased piece they usually sell it at a sample sale. Most of the time the labels and things are removed from the garments, so I don’t actually know where this sweater came from, but I love it none the less. It is very boat neck, to the point of being off the shoulder, and bat winged. You can stretch it out so it covers a big portion of your body, or you can wear it slouchy and relaxed like I did.

As with most boat neck pieces, in the winter months I just wear a white t-shirt underneith and let the sweater fall where it may. The t-shirt actually helps the sweater grip to the body more and not fall off the shoulders.

I paired this sweater with my black Mavi Denim Leggings and then wore a simple skinny braided black belt around the bottom to add a little bit of detail.

I wore my plaid fabric boots from Spring and a clear beaded necklace to fulfil a true monochromatic look. The necklace, I think I got from Ardenes, many years ago. I just love wearing it because it’s like wearing a bunch of marbles around your neck.

To add a tiny bit of colour, I wore a hair pin I bought at Anthropologie.

Now, hopefully tomorrow I will be a little more organized!

Rock Star Chic

I felt like being a Rock Star today. Maybe it was the good hair day. Maybe it was the song I woke up to on the radio. Maybe it was just the fact that its been too damn long since I was a Rock Star!

I wanted to layer a bunch of busy pieces on top of each other so I went to my pile of band t-shirts and grabbed the Led Zeppelin one Chad brought me back from his trip to Sweden a few years ago. Led Zeppelin is his favorite band and he said he always wanted to make out with a chick wearing a Zeppelin t-shirt. Hence the meaning behind the gift, hahaha!

I layered it over a white tank top, again because everything I wear is too short for my torso, and then threw on my black Boyfriend Cardigan from Kersh, as a simple, solid, outline.

My layering piece is a colourful hankerchief scarf I bought last Spring at Plum. I love the colours in it, and how they brightened up the dark grey of the t-shirt. There is a lot going on at once, but there is something about it that just works.

As for bottoms, I have my Second Yoga Jeans and my faux Fryes to round out the look.

For an accessory I wore a black beaded bracelet that I bought at Vallue Village. I love this bracelet because it can be worn to give an outfit some edge, but it can also be worn to give an outfit some class. I have worn it in both ways and it has looked awesome!

Now all I need is a fancy guitar.

Boyfriend in the Winter

I always find it amusing when I go back a few days and look over the outfits that I’ve worn. I don’t really plan my outfits days in advance, but rather day by day, depending on what I am doing and what I feel like wearing. So it is always interesting to me to see how some days outfits run into other days outfits, with out me really thinking about it. I’ll wear a belt and a sweater one day and then the next day I will do the exact same look, with different piece, with out even thinking about what I did the day before. The same goes for today. I wasn’t until I looked at these pictures that I realized I wore a grey striped sweater yesterday!

The grey striped sweater is from a line we carry called Press. I tried to find a website for it, but alas, no luck. I’m not really sure what other things they make, but when I saw this sweater, I just had to have it. If you stretch it out, it is literally a long rectangle with two ‘tubes’ for arms. Because of this the sweater is quite short in the back, but hangs quite long in the front.

I layered this sweater over a simple long sleeved light weight t-shirt from Plum. Super comfy with sort of a boat neck neckline.

My Boyfriend Jeans are Mavi Pattis. Even though they are a size 25 (the smallest size we carried) they are still too big for me. Now, I know they are Boyfriend jeans and are meant to be baggy, but I seriously need to wear a belt with these babies to hold them up. You can tell in the pictures that they are a bit awkward because they are too big, but I was too stubborn not to own then, so I am forced to look silly.

I have been yearning to wear my Boyfriend jeans in the winter, but I wasn’t really sure how. Today I wore them over top a pair of black wedge boots that are very tight around my calf, so they fit easily under the jeans. I can’t decide if it looks good, or just goofy. The boots are Steve Madden and I actually got them at Army & Navy a few years back. They aren’t the best quality, but they do the job!

I wanted to try and keep my curls for one more day, so I combed them out and tired then up in a cute pony tail. The necklace I have had for so long that I can’t remember where I got it from, but it falls into my Bull Horn obsession nicely.

And there you have another day with grey stripes.
