The Last Night Out
Well, with the last Saturday of the Olympics here, we decided to go out for a quick jaunt in the city. Chad hadn’t seen the torch yet, so we headed down there to Gastown and then out for a quick beer, at a less then impressive drinking establishment.
Nothing but Olympic gear here and a red lumberjack hat I got from Bluenotes!

Fancy Fridays
Since I always bug Alicia about dressing up so nice on Fridays when really you should dress like a bum, I decided to take some inspiration from her and put on my fancy pants!
Now that I have this great cropped suit jacket from Plum, I love wearing it with a variety of different outfits. I dressed it up today by pairing it with my deep v t-shirt from Aritzia. Nice and simple but a great colour. I love that you can take something so casual as a basic T and dress it up just by pairing it with a suit jacket. The combination of casual and dressy is something I’m really drawn to.
For bottoms I went with my black denim leggings and my black boots for a sleek look.
To add some fun to the outfit I wore a blue bow on a bobbi pin that I bought at Forever 21, and my silver horned necklace. Wearing fun and colourful hair things really add to any outfit. I like the idea of having a great hair accessory and using it to be your statement jewelery.
This look is a great example of pairing a few simple pieces to make a great outfit. Everyone needs a good suit jackte!
Arrr Matey
I am loving today’s outfit! As I said yesterday, I finally headed over to Forever 21, and though I wasn’t in the mood to search through rack after rack, I did find one amazing sweater that caught my eye!
At the beginning of the Season, Alicia and I were discussing our new found love of all things Navy. Just so happens that the Nautical look is very in right now. I think it has something to do with the scene in Coco Before Chanel where she makes herself an adorable top out of a fisherman uniform. That scene is what inspired Alicia and I so much. That, and after watching Clueless recently where Dion talks about her wedding and how it’s going to have a sailor theme and everyone is going to wear sailor hats. Hello, Genius!
This cropped 3/4 length sleeve sweater is absolutely adorable. I love the blue and red, the stripes, and the buttons. It’s the perfect little Spring sweater!
I also picked up a couple of long t-shirts from Forever 21. The scoop neck one fit perfectly under this sweater to add length to the top and contrast between the blue of the sweater and the blue of my jeans.
As for bottoms I wore my denim leggings and a pair of flats I bought at Coast Mountain Sports of all places. They’ve got a really neat print all over them with a red buckle. I thought I would be matchy matchy and pair them with my new sweater.
Now all I need is a Yacht.
Wearing Blue When I Should Be Wearing Red
What a crazy day for Canada in the Olympics today! I was so worried about the hockey game that I couldn’t watch it and decided to go shopping instead. Finally checked out Forever 21. I know I live right across the street from it, but I’ve been to lazy to visit. I bought a couple things, of which I will post pictures later. While shopping, all the sales associates kept running up to each other updating everyone on the score of the game. I couldn’t even escape it while shopping!
I wore an extra long grey t-shirt today. Something I bought at the sample sale at Plum last year. I love extra long t-shirts! I layered it with my grey Ribbed Waist Kersh Cardigan. A little tone on tone grey. I planned to wear my big blue scarf, so I wanted to keep my top half pretty mellow.
I wore my yoga jeans with my brown boots for a change. I don’t often wear that combo because the yoga jeans are much thicker then the denim leggings. Love wearing these boots with grey though.
To add a bit of pizazz I wore my Zebra studded earrings that I bought at Aldo. Super fun!
Ok, now back to all the Olympic watching!
The Purple Stripe
Today was the day the weather turned from Spring back to Winter. The girls and I went downtown for a bit and on the walk back to the car I was literally shivering. Way to tease us Weather!
Felt a bit stripy today and wore my Purple and Grey striped sweater from Dex. It is very over sized and ‘boyfriend’ like. I could probably wear it as a dress if I wanted. I layered it with a simple white t-shirt from Plum and threw on some Chains and a silver belt to play off the faux metal buttons. I let every hang where it may. Kinda frumpy and relaxed.
Black Serena Denim Leggings from Mavi and my faux fryes made for a good fit.
The second photo makes me tempted to get big thick bangs again so I can look like a hippie with a mop of hair. Maybe post Italy trip.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Monday Monday Monday
It was a chocolate covered Monday for me, clothing wise.
A stripped two tone brown t-shirt from Plum lead the outfit inspiration today. I love the deep rich colour and fit of this top. It is a great Summer piece that convert easily in cooler weather by adding a sweater.
A white camisole and sand coloured Kersh sweater layer this top. I adore the colour of this Kersh ribbed waist cardigan. It is the prefect colour to match with brown and to lighten any dark outfit.
As for jeans I have my Mavi patch pocket jeans, with my brown flats from Target. Brown always goes with brown. I have this weird thing with not mixing brown and black together, unless its in the combination of black with brown leather, like a belt or boots. Other then that, black and brown should never be seen except for in a washing machine!
My golden strawberry heart was a gift I got a few years back. The warmth of gold always works well with brown tones and I tend to use this combination a lot.
Now, if only I had some real chocolate covered strawberries!
A Little City Support
We just spent the whole day walking around downtown today. Holy cow am I tried! The city was full of Olympic spirit and the crowds everywhere were just huge. The weather was perfect, the scenery was beautiful, and over all it was an amazing day.
Just in time for the Olympics, Plum made these great Vancouver t-shirts to show support for the city they love. I bought this one for $32. There is also another design with a Maple Leaf that Alicia bought. You can check out both designs at Plum.ca
Along with Olympic spirit goes Olympic merchandise, and you can’t go downtown and not wear any! So, today included…
Canada Lambswool Sweater from The Bay
Vancouver T-shirt from Plum
Serena Denim Leggings from Mavi
Blue and White Olympic Toque from the Olympic Store in Whistler
Go Canada Go!
At the End of the Day
Another busy day at work with lots of running around and errands to do
This fun argyle printed t-shirt with a deep v has been apart of my wardrobe for years. It’s so old I can’t even remember where it came from. It’s one of those things where I leave it for a long time, and then rediscover it every now and then. It is a great t-shirt and a fun piece to reintroduce into my wardrobe.
I layered it with a white cami underneath and my teal Kersh cardigan over top. The colours really went well together and made for such a cute outfit.
The sunny weather has made me want to transition from boots to flats much earlier in the season then normal. I bought these black ones with a silver buckle from Walmart for $10. Buying flats at Walmart each season is the smartest thing to do. Cheap and easy and you don’t feel bad replacing them when the time comes.
My bottoms are my navy denim leggings of course.
As for the necklace, Alicia and I found a box of broken jewelry at work the other day that the boss was going to give to her daughter to mess around and create new pieces with. Well, before she did that, she let us take a peek to see if there was anything we were interested it. I found this great necklace that was in perfect condition other then the teal charm being broken. It is suppose to be a cross, but you can’t really tell. The colours went perfectly with the outfit and made for a great look.
Add on top of all that a cozy little knit hat and a sunny Friday at work just got a lot more fun!
