Shirt/Pants/Tie – RW&Co. Total cost: About $150.

You can go to Zellers or the Bay and probably find something that looks just as good for cheaper, but really, who are you kidding? Everyone knows you want the satisfaction of walking around in clothes that you really had to think hard about when you looked at the price tag. Like that $200 Hugo Boss t-shirt you bought in Vegas that all your friends rib you about.

Light grey dress pants are good for mixing and matching. Light grey is like the black of all the shades of grey. Anything you can match with grey can be matched with light grey. For Spring and Summer consider the weight of the fabric, especially if you work in an office where the A/C isn’t turned off until late May and you sit there silently cursing the fact that you don’t have a desk fan like the guy down the hall.

Lightly coloured button up shirts are great for the start of summer, they don’t think they’re a heat sink when you stand out in the sun. I have solid colour button up shirts, but I went the plaid route with this to offset the lack of pinstripe on the pants. Green and black accents in the plaid give the shirt some POP! But not too much. Too much POP and you’ve got yourself a Jimmy Buffet Special. Sleeve length is also something to think about. There’s no shame in wearing short sleeved dress shirts. In fact, consider the benefits of not having to roll up your sleeves if you get warm, only to unroll them into a wrinkled mess.

My office doesn’t require I wear a tie but being the Barney Stinson aficionado I am I felt it important that this outfit be complemented properly. The choice of tie relies heavily on your shirt and to some extent your pants. If you have pinstripe everything and you pick a pinstripe tie then you need to go to rehab. A tie should smartly offset the clothes under it. Plaid or pinstripe shirts should be complemented with a solid or small patterned tie, which plays off the colour of your shirt. I’m not a fan of people who say you should wear a solid shirt with a solid tie, both of the same colour. Barney Stinson does not approve. Here I’ve gone with a solid, dark green to complement the lighter green and black on the shirt. Tie width is a matter of personal preference, but I would say that if you wear a short sleeve button up, go with a thin tie. It adds a bit of casual chic to your business attire.

Shades aren’t critical to everything, but come on, you know you wanna. I have several pair of shades that range from Bolle to Buffalo to D&G. These ones cost me $8 at a kiosk at Lonsdale Quay and they’re by far my favourite pair.

This get up reminds me of one of the guys in Office Space. Comfortable both in the office staring at a screen or beating the crap out of something with a baseball bat.

Thanks so much to Pat for writing this!

Patterns and Textures

I loved today’s outfit. It was kind of out there for me, mixing so much pattern and texture, but I just loved wearing it.

I’m so glad I bought these tights. They are lace tights (obviously) but they are footless, so you can wear them under a long top, or skirt, and easily pair them with flip flops or sandals, which I am excited to try out. I bought them from Plum, and they are from a line called T-Party. T-Party is a company from the States that we buy a lot of our printed Ts from. I think these tights were an awesome find. I am so obsessed with them!

The shirt dress is from Dish and it is so comfy and fun! I paired it with a faux leather wrap belt I bought while I was in Australia. I bought one in black and one in teal and I recently discovered them again. They add such great detail.

I know I said I don’t like mixing Black and Brown, but my one exception is Leather. I was originally going to wear a pair of black flats but my faux fryes were screaming at me to be worn. I thought they would add a bit of a funkier element to this outfit.

I’ve also got a small silver necklace one, but you can’t really tell.

I kind of want to wear this outfit everyday.

Why, Hello There

Monday Monday, humid Monday. I can’t believe it was hotter here than in L.A. It was all clouds all day and didn’t even feel like a nice day. But the minute you stepped outside you were sweating buckets. Such strange weather patterns.

You all know my passion for over sized grey knit tops, so it was only right that I took this one off our Sample Rack when we were shipping everything for our sample sale. Hello giant grey shirt, I love you!

My boss bought it in London, intending it to be for herself, but after bringing it back here she felt that it didn’t fit her body right, so she gave it to the sample rack, in case we thought of using it one day. Well, it was never used and before being sent away, I reached out and adopted it.

My boss is bigger then me size wise, and she bought this top bigger then her normal size so that it would drape more. This means I’m actually wearing an XL top. Well, XL in London sizes. I thought it would be way too big on me, but after trying it on, I loved the way it draped. I love buying things too big and just letting them hang out.

I wore my Royal denim leggings and black heels to make for a very colour blocked outfit. I liked the way my black heels macthed the black exposed zipper on the back of the shirt.

I kept my jewelry simple and just wore some silver bracelets and my fabric studded earrings.

Next time I think I will try this top with big chunky jewels. Something that will make a statement!

More Stripes and White T-Shirts

I just realized today’s outfit is basically the same as yesterdays outfit.

Chad wanted me to act like a bird.

I drove to Surrey today. I know, pretty exciting. I went to visit my cousins who work at their local nursery (plants not babies). I bought some more things of our deck garden and then poped over to Ikea to buy more pots. Hahaha thank GOD Chad hasn’t killed me yet!

Today was super muggy and even wearing this sweater made me sweat. It was very odd.

Over sized V-Neck T
Stripped Sweater
Denim Leggings
Sparkly Flats

The second after these photos were taken I ripped off my outfit and put on sweat pants so I could get dirty and clean the deck. I’m glad I didn’t take a picture of that! Ha.

Hello, I’m a Bum!

Today was lazy. I woke up at 8am but decided to watch a TV movie in bed instead of getting up and doing stuff. It was raining, so my out door activities were canceled. I chose my bed instead. Chad ended up having a big headache so I let him sleep (after the movie) and I puttered around the house, putting things away and cleaning messes.

Tonight we had a small BBQ at Darios house where we watched the hockey game and web-camed with Pat, our favorite little Jew.

Because I had woken up at 8am, I was passing out on the couch by 9:30, but it’s OK, because Dario partially joined me.

It was really muggy out and I was at a loss, as per usual.

I’m kind of a horrible fashion disaster in front of a horrible drape disasters.

Dinner with the Cripple

Today was a much better day, health wise, from yesterday. I guess each day has been better then the last. Mostly because it is one day closer to this being all over. My stomach still has its moments but other then that, today was pretty optimistic.

I could tell that Chad was starting to have the effects of Cabin Fever so I dragged him out of the house so we could go out for dinner to Earls, which is just up the street from our apartment. While it is burdensome for him to move around with his crutches, I figured going out for dinner would be an easy way to get home out of the house to people watch, with out a lot of effort. Worked like a charm!

I wore my Beck band t-shirt today. If you know me, you know that I love Beck more then anything. He is my hero! My t-shirt, unfortunately, is too short for my body, so I had to layer it with a longer white t-shirt.

I love wearing my teal Kersh boyfriend sweater as a pop of colour everything I wear a monotone outfit.

Navy Mavi denim leggings and flats rounded out my bottom half.

I decided to add a cute bow in my hair, silver bracelets, and my studded purse for our date out. It turned my rather casual outfit into something a little more funky for evening!

Don’t Worry, I’m Not Dead

Posted by Danielle Ciavarro under Uncategorized

This week has been a bit nuts. I’ve had to go to the hospital every day this week for Thyroid Cancer Tests, and have subsequently been sick because of them.

I have photos from all my outfits this week in drafts, I’ve just had no time to edit them, but they will be coming.

Because I post everything on the date it was taken, once I have the posts edited (which should happen tonight or tomorrow) they will show up below this post in date order.

Thank you for your patience <3

Everyday is an Episode

Today I had to go for my full body scan, which is not a difficult task and one which I have done before. I was heading into it pretty optimistic, but once it was over, the nurse said a few things which made me question whether everything was alright or not. I know its most likely me over reacting, but now I cant help but worry. 2 weeks until I get the results of everything.

I had a mish mash of casual wear going on today. I plan on trying to shrink my Boyfriend Jeans in the dryer next time I do the laundry. I see other people wearing the same jeans and they look so much better. Hahah I get so frustrated with these guys!

Purple v-neck t-shirt from Aritzia paired with an oatmeal coloured ribbed waist Kersh sweater. My cream coloured scarf matched and contrasted nicely against the sweater.

I felt very neutral today, so I wore my brown flats and some brown wooden jewelry.

I love the ides of mixing natural elements and thats why I chose to mix Linen and Wood.

Again my hair is in a big messy bun!

Shots in the Arm

Thankfully I am much better stomach wise today. These thyroid tests are definitely taking their toll on me this week. Ive had to miss a lot of work, so Ive been getting up early and trying to stay late every day, which just leaves me exhausted. It also doesn’t help that Chad is clearly crippled and cant help me out with anything. Halfway through, and this is definitely one of the hardest weeks in a long long time.

Today I wore my new Dish plaid tank top. Nice and flowy which will be perfect for hot summer days. I layered it with a white tank top (because I am obsessed with doing that) and wore a grey ribbed waist cardigan over top.

I felt like doing a lot of grey today, so I wore my grey denim leggings, to match my sweater, rolled up with my black sneakers.I thought it looked quite cute.

My hair was a big disaster today. I partially blame yesterdays bed ridden episode.

At least it was bright and sunny today :)

The Day of Death

Holy Smokes, was I sick today. My second dose of thyroid shots, which have the side effect of nausea, took full side effect on me. It didn’t hit me right away, but it came on fast and furious after lunch. Its been a while since Ive been that sick, stomach wise.

I should have taken a picture this morning, because once the nausea came on, I wasn’t able to stand for 5 minutes together. Its too bad too, cause I really liked todays outfit.
