Stripy Mc Stripe

I’m not very good at being creative bold pieces of clothing. All I ever seem to do is pair it with something simple and let the bold piece stand out. It just ends up becoming so mundane. I need a lesson in creativity.

While this sweater is not HUGELY over the top , it is enough so that all I want to wear something basic with it. I ‘tried’ to step out of the box today and paired it with a grey T, black denim leggings and a black scarf, but it’s not really that out there. I like the idea of mixing a patterned sweater with a printed T, but most of my T-shirts are in basic colours, or striped. I really don’t own that many printed Ts. Clearly, I need to change that.

The only adventurous part of this outfit was a clip I found that matched my sweater. Cutest thing ever!

I like todays outfit, but I really feel I need to push myself some more when it comes to fashion. Especially when it comes to the pieces I love.

The Black Princess

Yes yes, the Black Princess is back, and by that I don’t mean anything other then the fact that I like to wear black. Fridays trends hung on until today.

I am starting to feel under the weather, which is never a good thing. However, if I do have to get sick, I prefer it to happen now and NOT next week. Being sick at Christmas is pretty much the worst thing ever, and the last few years I always seem to be gross right around it.

Nothing uber exciting happened today, especially in the fashion department. I just like being Black.

The top is from American Apparel, and I wore it with a grey T from Plum. My Dish Jeans and Chuck Taylors you clearly know by now.

I threw on my Florence Leather Belt because I love the colour and forgot how much I enjoy wearing belts for the pop of colour they provide.

The headband is from Forever 21. I can never wear headbands because the pressure on my head gives me a headache. Yes, even the slight pressure of a headband does me in every time. My head is just that sensitive. I have to take it off every couple hours just to make sure I didn’t explode!

Such difficulties in life ;)

Where These Taken At Sears?

Hahahahaha. It’s so true.

This is what Friday in West Hollywood looks like during ‘lunch break’ at the apartment. We got all our appointments done with first thing in the morning, so now we can spend the afternoon doing some shopping for ourselves and the store. It gets to be a bit exhausting, but it’s still fun!

I decided to wear my newly purchased Birkenstocks today since I am so excited about them! I will have to take good photos and post them on here. They went perfectly with today’s outfit.

Mavi Serena Denim Leggings
Trinity Blouse
Plum Cami

The headband I also just purchased at Heritage 1981. I am addicted to things under $5,

I wonder what interesting things I will find this afternoon!?

Getting Ready To Go

It’s been a busy day and it’s going to be an even busier evening. I need to get everything together for my trip to LA tomorrow!

We don’t have the internet at the apartment we are staying in so posting will be none existant. We will try and find a little cafe or something, but I’m going to take a blogging break this week.

Today I was totally comfortable. I love this outfit.

Beck Band T
White Tank Top
Grey Plum Sweater
Dish Jeans
Flip Flips
Misc. Hair Bow

It was perfect for all the running around I had to do.

TIME TO PACK!

Hopefully I can pull out my SUMMER clothes in LA!

Papas Vest

I went back to my parentals house thinking I could find the old Boyfriend jacket I use to have. That plan failed, but instead I found a couple of old suits my Mom had saved. One just happened to be my Dads wedding suit! I took the jacket, in hopes of wearing it as a Boyfriends jacket, or a “Papa jacket”, but I need to take a second look at it. In the mean time, I took the vest and immediately integrated it into my wardrobe. Thank God my Dad use to be so skinny!

I wore my tabbed white sleeve shirt and thought of my Dads vest right away. Pairing my boyfriend blouse and vest totally makes me look like an editor working at a newspaper. It made me feel very masculine. I kinda like it hahaha!

I paired this with my new Royal Serena Mavi Denim Leggings, which are the most amazing leggings ever. I love love love the colour of them. I also wore my faux fryes to kick it up a notch.

My wired heart and cherry hair clip added a touch of femininity to my outfit. It wasn’t enough femininity for Chad to actually like my outfit. He hates when I dress like a boy!

I really love this look though. I’m so glad I found my Dads wedding vest!!!

The End of the Week

This is Friday. This is a casual Friday. Story of my life? Maybe. Story of this week? Definitely.

All I wanted to do today was nothing. It kind of happened and it kind of didn’t. It was like the big sigh after an intense workout. Everyone was kind of mellow at work.

We skipped dinner and went to see Avatar. I went in not expecting much and I came out loving it. I can’t believe how much I loved it. Was not expecting that at all.

I ate a lot of nachos and candy.

I fell into my typical Lazy Danielle trap today.

Mavi Jeans
Long white v-neck t-shirt from F21
Grey v-neck sweater from Kersh
Grey checkered Vans

I made the outfit cute by wearing a gold headband in my hair and a silver and gold charmed necklace.

I think its adorable.

Wedges and Hedges*

I had a meeting this morning with 2 reps from a company that we have begun to order fancy trims from. I was under the impression that the meeting was about trims, but when I entered the room, all there was, was fabric samples. Oh No! In no way, shape, or form, do I have any say in what fabrics we order. I’m the trim girl not the fabric girl! It wouldn’t have been so bad if Claudia had been there. She orders fabrics all the time and would have been able to say Yay or Nay, but she decided not to come into work and left me to fend for myself. Not a good situation to be in. The fabrics were all from Italy and super expensive, so at least it was easy to say no, because I knew there was no way we would ever use such pricy pieces. The fun part was that both reps were Italian and they chatted away to each other in the mother tongue. We talked about trips to Italy and where we are all from. It was quite cute!

Since I had a meeting this morning, I decided to make it Fancy Pants Friday.

rewI wore my Mavi Serena Denim Leggings in Blue, with a pair of sling back wedges I bought at Payless a couple of Summers ago. It’s getting close to open toe/sandal season!  I then wore a really fun and comfy tank top with ruching detail from Urban Outfitters. I love this piece and bring it out every Spring/Summer. It is so fun, and everyone who sees it wants to know where I got it. Since it’s not quite sleeveless top season, I threw on my black ribbed waist cardigan from Kersh.

As for jewellery, I chose a large turquoise stone necklace that I bought at Plum last year. It is one of my favorite pieces of jewelery I own. I also have the matching ring, which I’ve worn before.

I felt very stylish and professional in this outfit today! Heels will do it to me every time!

*Thanks Shazzi!

Summer with a Winter Breeze

We went to the Parentals for dinner today. I took the opportunity to take some pictures on the deck since it was so beautiful outside. The sun was shinning but the breeze was cold. Spring hasn’t quite hit us JUST yet!

I decided to try wearing my denim leggings cuffed at the bottom, but because they are so dark, you can’t actually see the contrast, which is the whole point at cuffing jeans. Oh well.

I wore my A-line, v-neck, t-shirt from Plum with my grey boyfriend cardigan from Kersh. I wanted to pop some colour into my outfit so I wore my pink Keds and layered a couple turquoise necklaces. The long beads I’ve had for years, and the shorter chain with the fuchsia flower I got at Plum.

I also put a little clip in my hair that I bought at Barefoot Contessa last Summer. A cute little black strawberry.

I love playing with colour, when it comes to shoes and accessories. Combining bright, contrasting colours, makes any outfit fun!

Isn’t it still the Weekend?

“Weekend wear” carried over from Sunday to Monday, today. I just couldn’t shake the comfy bug. Plus is was so rainy and gross this morning, all I wanted was to be cozy and relaxed.

I wore my Mavi Jeans, and my American Apparel crew neck sweatshirt. I layered it with a long white t-shirt and then wore Chuck Taylor’s to complete the casual work.

To add a bit of interest I wore a little hair pin with a turquoise flower at the top of my pony tail that I got at Forever 21, and a pair of square bangles I got at Value Village.

I felt casual, but cute, which is the perfect way, in my books, to transition from Sunday to Monday!

Fancy Fridays

Since I always bug Alicia about dressing up so nice on Fridays when really you should dress like a bum, I decided to take some inspiration from her and put on my fancy pants!

Now that I have this great cropped suit jacket from Plum, I love wearing it with a variety of different outfits. I dressed it up today by pairing it with my deep v t-shirt from Aritzia. Nice and simple but a great colour. I love that you can take something so casual as a basic T and dress it up just by pairing it with a suit jacket. The combination of casual and dressy is something I’m really drawn to.

For bottoms I went with my black denim leggings and my black boots for a sleek look.

To add some fun to the outfit I wore a blue bow on a bobbi pin that I bought at Forever 21, and my silver horned necklace. Wearing fun and colourful hair things really add to any outfit. I like the idea of having a great hair accessory and using it to be your statement jewelery.

This look is a great example of pairing a few simple pieces to make a great outfit. Everyone needs a good suit jackte!
